The enemy team is canonically known as Crux. Initially starting out dormant in Ground Zero, a sudden event awakens the only core and sets it on a mission to claim its ground against the enemy. The player team is canonically known as Sharded. Each team has a colour scheme that is applied to certain blocks, namely Cores, Containers, Vaults and the Command Center, as well as the lights on units. Mindustry supports up to 5 player teams at maximum, of which two teams are involved in the campaign: Sharded and Crux. Imports and exports are summarised as per-minute values in the background and in-game, a sector receives imports in minute intervals. Launch Pads use power to fire a bundle of 100 items max per 20 seconds, equating to 300 items a minute at maximum. The Launch Pad, unlocked after defeating Extraction Outpost, can be used to transfer resources across sectors. The Tech Tree also contains items such as Graphite, unlocked by obtaining one unit of said item through any means. Resources are spent from a pool of all cores in all sectors, with costs distributed evenly. The Tech Tree is where players can spend resources from the core to unlock new blocks and units.

  • Units add to the player's power level no matter the map.Ĭertain aspects of a numerical sector are randomised: namely the presence of Scrap, ruin-like structures and wave composition.

  • Sectors that show full survivability without a plus sign are not completely safe against loss.
  • If an enemy wave overpowers the defense in value, the sector is lost.
  • Damage caused by enemy waves is randomised based on the similarity between both sides' power values.
  • Turrets along the ground route that have ammo add power values to the player's side.
  • Each enemy wave is assigned a value based on the power of each unit.
  • This is the shortest route for a Dagger to reach the core.
  • A path for ground units is carved along the map.
  • Item gain and spending is calculated in minute-by-minute batches.įor defending against waves, the algorithm uses this method to determine survivability. Since it is not possible to render tens of sectors in-game, Mindustry uses an algorithm to calculate these details instead. Sectors continue to produce resources and defend against waves in the background. Additional waves will spawn from spawn points located at the positions of the original cores. Sectors can be lost to these retaliations and reclaiming them requires the player to go through all additional waves added on by enemy bases.Įnemy bases will have most of their structures turned into Derelict blocks or be destroyed.

The more enemy bases are next to it, the more frequent retaliations are. If a sector is adjacent an enemy base, it is listed as vulnerable and subject to additional waves. A loadout is also available that allows you to start with up to 9 thousand of each item these are all taken from the departure sector and can be limited in the case of insufficient resources. When launching, you will be asked to select a type of core equal to of lower than the departure sector's, or a core schematic. If the in-game sector is away from a destination, a random valid sector will be used to source the launch instead. The sector the player currently plays in will be where resources are consumed. Resources are taken from another sector to launch.Numerical sectors can only launch from adjacent sectors, major or not.Major sectors (i.e those that are not just a number) can launch to any other major sector on the map.Launching into sectors requires certain conditions: Each available sector is either unoccupied or has an enemy base unoccpied sectors require surviving waves to capture, while the opponent's cores must be destroyed to obtain enemy base sectors. Sectors are defined as the 'levels' of the Campaign. These enemy bases will periodically send extra waves to adjacent captured sectors and requires an attacking army to capture. Later on, certain sectors are enemy bases. After you are done with Ground Zero, it is highly recommended to complete major sectors up until The Craters. In the tech tree, the bottom-right area with mountain icons shows what major sectors are available to you.

From here, you are free to research new technologies and launch to other sectors for a small cost of Copper and Lead. After all waves are complete, the sector is free from any future attacks and you are now able to move around the planet. Starting out in the lonely Ground Zero, your first goal is to secure the sector by defeating all waves. The campaign takes place on a spore-infested planet known as Serpulo.
